The spa town of Bad Ischl had its heyday in the 18th century. At this time the town served as an imperial summer residence. Here the famous couple Emperor Franz Joseph and Sissi got engaged in 1853 in the former Seeauerhouse, which today serves as a museum. The imperial flair can today be clearly felt even today still in the Emperor's Villa (Kaiservilla), the Emperor's garden (Kaisergarten) or the Wildenstein castle ruins.
