Mountain biking in Faistenau
Per mountain bike up to alpine huts
Have the choice of countless metres of altitude to master on your holiday. With a worthwhile destination in mind, the mountain bike tour is especially fun. In our valley there are a good 20 alpine huts that can be reached by mountain bike. Once you have reached your destination, you can fortify yourself with freshly prepared alpine specialities and refresh yourself with cold spring water. Well refreshed, you return to the valley - over steep downhills or more relaxed mountain bike trails.
The most popular mountain bike trails
- From lake Hintersee up to Oberwiesalm - Faistenauer Schafberg
You start the tour directly at the hotel, heading towards Tiefbrunnau, along the idyllic road to the Schafbachalm (1.038 m). From there you continue to the Oberwiesalm (1.350 m). On your return you take the same path to the Schafbachalm and then carry on right, along the Sonnberg-Forstweg. You will arrive at the Hintersee and return to your holiday home Hotel Fischerwirt following the right side of the lake to finish your tour.
- From lake Hintersee up to Genneralm within the Osterhorn mountain range
From the hotel, past lake Hintersee to the neighbouring village Hintersee. From there you continue to the end of the valley, to Lämmerbach and carry on upwards along the dirt road until you reach the alpine postures (1.295 m) below the Gennerhorn. If you are feeling strong, continue on foot for about half an hour to the peak. After some rest at a rustic hut, it's back down into the valley to the Fischerwirt again.
- Panoramic tour to Loibersbacher Höhe
Starting directly from the Hotel Fischerwirt, this varied tour first leads into the Tiefbrunnauertal valley. A shady forest path takes you steadily uphill towards Loibersbacher Höhe (1,456 m). The last few metres of altitude require a bit of stamina, but reward you with a fantastic panoramic view of the Salzkammergut. The return journey follows the same route. Back in the valley, the year-round heated infinity pool at the Naturhotel Fischerwirt invites you to take a dip – with unobstructed views of the mountains and surrounded by the tranquillity of the forest.
- Scenic loop along the Faistenauer Höhenweg trail
Starting at the Hotel Fischerwirt, the route follows the Hintersee lake towards Kugelberg, followed by a challenging climb along the Faistenauer Höhenweg trail. The trail offers sweeping views over the Salzburg countryside, past flowering alpine meadows and sparse forests. The route leads back down into the valley via the Schafbachgraben. After the tour, pure relaxation awaits: enjoy the soothing warmth and panoramic views in the infinity pool at the Naturhotel Fischerwirt – surrounded by greenery.
